There is the university... www.tudelft.nl .. which fills the town up with students, who take all of the jobs which local young people (born here) would like..... Then there's tourism, which is "good for the city" (it says here...) www.tripadvisor.co.uk It goes like this - Tourists eat food in hotels and restaurants, hotels then order food which comes in HUGE TRUCKS which damage roads, block roads, knock down bollards and lamp-posts, pollute the air in Delft, with diesel and fine-particulates, and raise the taxes in Delft to pay for the damage.... Is that too Cynical?? Of course it is! - Gemeente Delft doesn't actually care about the air we breathe here... it can't afford to - those trucks absolutely must get through... !! Locals don't get paid to answer tourist-questions like "Ecksa kyooz preeze - ware stay-shun?" but it's easier now..... "Stay-Shun crozed - day mayk nooo wun..." (Not actually closed - but putting it 30 metres under the ground whilst trying to preserve the old station building.....) Did we ask for a new station !!?? Did we ...
